SPECIFICATIONS: 2000 Peterbilt 379 extended hood model, long haul conventional style tractor, equipped with a Cat C15-490 diesel, a Fuller 18-speed transmission, 40K# tandem drive axles, low air leaf suspension, 259” wheelbase, Huck bolted frame, air slide 5th wheel, dual 135 gallon aluminum fuel tanks, dual stainless breathers, dual chrome exhaust, 10-aluminum wheels, tall 24.5” virgin radials (92% front, 58% rear), 63” raised roof sleeper, American Class trim with power locks. About 980,000 actual miles. Engine OH at Peterbilt dealer 5 months ago for $15,000 including radiator core & charge air cooler (awaiting invoices and will post once received). OWNER WILL SWAP OUT THE WOOD GRAIN DASH, ARM RESTS, SPEAKER GRILLES, STEERING WHEEL AND GAGUE BEZELS FOR THE OEM ORIGINALS WHICH CAME ON THE TRUCK. Good tires, looks like new front drums, owner says the truck has been gone through from front to back, he was planning on keeping 4 more years. (Awaiting 12 months of records).
DAMAGES: bumper & spring hangers, front cross member, radiator, charge air, AC, fan, Horton drive, alternator, AC pump, turbo, fuel transfer pump, front engine mount, flywheel housing, lines & hoses, intake pipes, RH breather body, cab cowls, firewall, complete hood, driveshaft & carrier bearing.
I’ve never had such a hard time getting under a hood. Can not get a 100% view but it does not appear that the block or front cover are broken. All the slack was shortened up on the drive line and the carrier bearing is torn out. Oil pan amazingly is not broken (visibly, and not leaking). According to owner, truck was going 60 MPH when it hit the back of a flatbed trailer traveling slowly.
HOW HARD WILL IT BE TO MOVE: Truck rolls and steers, and the exhaust stacks have already been cut for transport height.
Your prompt attention is appreciated. Salvage is sold as is and no warrantees are made or implied by the insurance company or its representative.
