The machine involved is a 1998 Samsung (Samsung Heavy Equipment in Korea was acquired by Volvo Construction Equipment in 1998) SE240LC-3 model hydraulic excavator, equipped with a Cummins 8.3L-190HP 6 cylinder turbo diesel engine that delivers 168 net flywheel horsepower to two main axial piston pumps, powering three hydraulic motors with eight control valves. 15’ long tracks ride on standard 32” shoes with S.A.L.T. rollers (9 lower, 2 upper) idlers and sprockets. The machine has 4 computer controlled operation modes, Idle, Fine, Standard, Heavy-Duty, and 9 manual/auto engine RPM settings, including a Power Boost mode for a 9-second 10% increase over HD mode for heavy digging. The enclosed, climate controlled operator cab includes AM/FM cassette stereo, adjustable seat, lights and mirrors, sunroof, wipers and clock. The machine has 6,666 engine hours. The boom has auxiliary plumbing, and a Geith manual quick hitch, 48” Lemac bucket and Lemac 34” fixed thumb clamp. PIN: FGY0637 was verified. Damages were sustained to the hood & composite engine covers, engine, torque converter, 2 main pumps, 1 pilot pump, hydraulic hoses & pipes, water hoses, all electrical wiring, switches, relays & controllers, batteries & cables, and possibly control valves because of two fires and fire department extinguishing.
